If you’re a Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown resident, you’ve more than likely appreciate Barnhart Park off Andrews Lane. Ever since it was remodeled over 5 years ago, it has been a go to Park for many families with kids, high school students, sports coaches, striving athletes training for senior tryouts and college tryouts, pickup basketball, soccer and volleyball games and even family celebrations like birthdays and graduations. As you can see, I can go on listing the reasons why the park is used.

My main focus for this petition, is to ask the village to call for lighting on the courts and throughout the park area. For such a high traffic park, as inviting as it is during the day, it is just as frighting to go there at night and a safety hazard for our residents. There have been unfortunate incidents as we know of past students killed at night when the park is dark, young teens using the park area for drugs or other inappropriate acts, people falling and tripping because of the low amount of light. Just like how I listed the positive reasons why the park is used, the list is longer for safety hazard issues. Do we really need to list the negative reasons? or we can please ask for lighting in the fields and park area by the tree so we can have a beautiful lighted park in the evening so people don’t have to walk scared through the park at night. 

Please help bring light to Barnhart Park under its darkest hours for everyone.
