As an avid Fortnite player and a diligent student from Tracy, CA, I find myself unable to enjoy my favorite pastime after completing my homework due to the block imposed by GoGuardian. This issue is personal to me as I love playing Fortnite but am denied access when using my computer at home. It's important to note that video games like Fortnite can be beneficial for students. According to a study published in American Psychologist, strategic video games can boost problem-solving skills and even improve grades (American Psychologist, 2013).

However, many of us are unable to access these benefits due to restrictions set by software like GoGuardian. We understand the need for such tools during school hours but believe it should not extend into our personal time at home especially when parental supervision is present.

We urge the relevant authorities in Tracy, CA schools and GoGuardian administrators alike to reconsider this policy and allow students access their favorite games outside of school hours. This would not only respect our rights as individuals but also promote a healthy balance between work and play which is crucial for overall development.
