Lift the Ban on Vaping within Pakistan

Lift the Ban on Vaping within Pakistan

The Issue

I was able to quit smoking because of vaping. It provided me with a safer alternative to traditional cigarettes, ultimately helping me break free from the cycle of addiction that plagued my life for years. Yet, with the current ban on vaping, many people like me are left without access to this vital tool that aids in smoking cessation. I am deeply concerned about the impact this has on individuals striving to quit smoking and seeking healthier options.

There is ample evidence to support that vaping is a less harmful alternative to smoking. Public Health England states that vaping is at least 95% less harmful than smoking tobacco. Furthermore, the Royal College of Physicians acknowledges the potential of e-cigarettes as a means to significantly reduce smoking-related diseases and death.

Despite these facts, governments are imposing bans that restrict access to vaping products, based on concerns of underage use and insufficient regulation. While these issues are important, prohibiting vaping entirely is not the solution. Instead, we need balanced regulations that address these concerns without removing an effective harm-reduction tool from adults who seek it.

Rather than imposing total bans, regulations could include stricter age verification processes, quality standards for products, and educational initiatives to inform the public on the differences between smoking and vaping. Proper enforcement of these measures can ensure that vaping remains accessible to those who need it while protecting young people from potential risks.

By removing the ban on vaping and implementing thoughtful regulations, we can support individuals looking to quit smoking, reduce harm, and promote public health. Please join me in urging policymakers to reconsider their stance and take informed actions that truly benefit public health. Your support and signature can make a difference in advocating for a practical and fair approach to vaping. Support this petition to help lift the ban on vaping and support those seeking healthier lives.
