Lift the ban on the Book titled "The Golden Son of The Kadazan"

Lift the ban on the Book titled "The Golden Son of The Kadazan"

The Issue

The book "The golden son of the Kadazan" written by Bernard Santa Maria was banned by the Federal government almost immediately after it was published. The book highlights the life of one of Sabah's most illustrious son and revered leader until the "66" tragedy on 6 June 1976. Malaysians, especially those from Sabah are perplexed why the book was banned. It doesn't contain anything that can be construed as against the public interest nor as against national security. Whatever is in the book are all factual and not embellished in any way.

Although the book is available online, it deserves to be recognised as a sign of respect for Sabah and all Sabahans. It is about a Sabahan leader who is respected and idolised especially by the indigenous people of Sabah. During his short life of 37 years and even shorter life as a politician, he consistently stood for what was right and just for Sabah and her people, in the context of the newly formed Malaysia. He is known to fight for freedom of religion and democracy with zeal and passion.

We believe his leadership is a source of inspiration for all, especially Sabah's younger generation. His story will also give a glimpse of the context of most of the pertinent issues that are brought up by Sabah politicians over and over again for the benefit of Sabah and her rakyat, to this very day.

This book records part of Sabah's history. By banning the book, the people are prevented from accessing information that could help them understand issues that are important to the development and progress of Sabah. It also records the "66" tragedy which is the darkest chapter of Sabah's history.

Please help to lift the ban on this book. It deserves to be shared by all Malaysian and friends the world over.
