Lift the Ban on Syrian Gamers Participating in Riot Games

Lift the Ban on Syrian Gamers Participating in Riot Games
The Issue
As a passionate gamer, I am deeply troubled by the international laws and regulations that have led to an outright ban on Syrian players from participating in Riot Games. This sanction, while legally justified, seems illogical when you consider its real-world impact. It is not punishing any government or organization; instead, it is denying ordinary people their choice of leisure activity.
Gaming is more than just a hobby for many; it's a way of life. It provides an escape from reality, fosters friendships across borders and cultures, and offers opportunities for personal growth through strategic thinking and problem-solving. The ban imposed by Riot Games has stripped these opportunities away from countless individuals in Syria who find joy and solace in gaming.
According to Newzoo's 2020 Global Games Market Report, there are 2.7 billion gamers worldwide (source: Newzoo). By banning Syrian gamers from participating in their games, Riot Games is excluding a significant portion of this global community based purely on their geographical location.
We understand that companies must abide by international laws and regulations. However, we believe that these rules should not be applied blindly without considering the human impact they have - especially when they affect something as universal as gaming.
We urge Riot Games to reconsider this decision and find ways to allow Syrian gamers back into their community without violating any laws or sanctions. Please sign this petition if you believe in equal access to gaming for all regardless of nationality or location.
