Lift Tariffs on Baby Essentials: Join Nanit in Supporting Families
The Issue
At Nanit, we believe in showing up for parents–not just through our products, but through our actions. That’s why we’re taking a public stance and rallying alongside parents, advocates, and leaders to call for a simple but powerful change: end tariffs on essential baby goods.
This isn’t a political issue–it’s a human one. Supporting families should be a national priority, and right now, policy isn’t keeping up. The U.S. birth rate is declining, and financial strain is one of the biggest reasons. Tariffs on baby items only make it harder for parents to provide what their children need.
We surveyed parents across the country, and the results were clear:
- 98% of parents expressed concern about the effect of tariffs on baby goods
- Half said they are very concerned
- One in four are holding off on purchasing baby essentials altogether
- 70% are actively reevaluating or reducing spending because of tariff-related uncertainty
Tariffs on goods are challenging across the board, but when they target essentials like baby monitors, cribs, strollers, car seats, and sleepwear, the consequences for families are especially harmful. Baby monitors, in particular, are a vital tool for parents–providing peace of mind, better sleep, a deeper sense of connection, and a window into their baby’s wellness and safety. These aren’t nice-to-haves; they’re must-haves. Yet tariffs are driving up costs and putting this essential support system out of reach for too many families.
On Friday, May 2 (National Baby Day), we’re organizing a family-friendly rally in NYC to make our voices heard, you can RSVP here. If you can’t be there in person, sign this petition and show lawmakers that supporting parents is more than good policy–it’s the right thing to do.
