life isn’t fair but neither is the new rules at mchs
life isn’t fair but neither is the new rules at mchs
The Issue
Many students at MCHS feel obligated to say that the rules are becoming unfair. Hats weren’t aloud to be worn at school to begin with, but with this new bucket rule, lice and many other germs will be spread. I don’t believe bringing a hat to school should be a punishment to getting lice. Since everyone is now forced to put their hats in the same bucket, many students will and already are becoming angry because “sharing hats” is gross.
Lunch went from 4 different lunches to 3. There are many more people attending the school now, which is causing chaos. They closed off MCHS students open space to the commons due to multiple fights. Many students are complaining that there is barely any or no open space at all to sit at a table and enjoy lunch. I have witnessed myself that many people sit in the floor or stand up to eat. Students are beginning to have to run to get to a table which should not be taking place at all. Not to mention, since there is one less lunch then there used to be, there is hundreds of people being added to each lunch, causing students to wait in line their entire lunch to get their food that they won’t be able to eat.
The vice principal Mr. Merrick doesn’t go by the rule book to discipline the students, but goes by his own. He decides how to punish kids by the appearance, his own relationship, and favoritism of the kids, deciding how they should be punished. I’ve heard and seen multiple students being in trouble for the same thing, but getting disciplined in completely different ways. Teachers have noticed this and talked about this problem with their students, but haven’t stood up and solved the problem.
I personally feel for the administrators about how they want their students to learn and succeed while attending school. I do not think our phones are the problem though. Students are juggling work, extracurricular activities, and their own lifestyle around, so once students go to school they are already tired. If classes were more entertaining and designed to be more fun, students would be pulled towards learning more and giving an effort.
