Dear Friends of Sea-Eye,
Last Sunday and Monday the SEA-EYE 4 rescued 231 people in distress in 5 operations within 24 hours! It couldn't be clearer: our help is urgently needed. Support us now in our missions on the world's deadliest escape route!
Crucial hours
Rescue operation #1: At noon on Sunday, the crew of SEA-EYE 4 responded to an Alarmphone distress call and evacuated 46 people from a rubber boat in distress at sea.
Rescue operation #2: A few hours later, our vessel received another Alarmphone message. In this case, RESQSHIP's sailing vessel NADIR was first on the scene, stabilized the unseaworthy rubber boat, which was losing air and partially filled with water, distributed life jackets and secured 22 people on life rafts - including a mother and her baby. When SEA-EYE 4 arrived at approximately 7 p.m., it picked up all 60 survivors.
Rescue operation #3: At 2 a.m., SEA-EYE 4 reached a fiberglass boat and rescued an additional 10 people.
Rescue operation #4: The next morning, our crew and the crew of the NADIR rescued a total of 58 people from an overcrowded wooden boat that had already taken on water.
Rescue operation #5: Around noon, the ship spotted another rubber boat in distress and rescued 57 people, including a heavily pregnant woman.
The SEA-EYE 4 then handed over the people rescued during the last operation to the Italian Coast Guard. The remaining 174 people were safely brought ashore by the crew in Genoa on Thursday. A few hours later, the SEA EYE 4 returned to its area of operation. It will arrive there at the beginning of next week - to help people in danger of their lives!
Five SEA EYE 4 rescue operations in 24 hours: This shows how important it is that we are now in operation in the Mediterranean! Let's send another ship into action as soon as possible - the all-weather lifeboat SEA-EYE 5. Become a permanent donor now: With a monthly donation of €16.67, you can help save even more people in need.
Yes, I want to become a permanent donor!
Sincerely,
Gorden Isler
