Dear friends of Sea-Eye,
One day before Christmas Eve, the SEA-EYE 4 reached the port of Livorno in Tuscany and the 108 refugees could finally enter safe land. The Italian authorities had assigned us this port, far away from the area of operation, although they knew that this meant a crossing of four days for the refugees.
These hardships were also endured by 20 refugees who suffered from moderate to severe burns. They had contracted these burns during their escape on their boat due to gasoline spills. After their arrival in Livorno, they had to be taken directly from the ship to a hospital.
We are happy to have saved 108 people from death during this rough time. But we are also worried, because actually the SEA-EYE 4 is supposed to leave directly for the next life-saving mission already in January. Unfortunately, the funding is still on the line. Please help us so that we don't have to cancel the rescue mission. Donate now!
The entire Sea-Eye team wishes you and your loved ones happy holidays!
Yours, Gorden Isler
- Chairman of Sea-Eye e. V.
