Dear friends of Sea-Eye,
Please give us a few minutes of your time and read our news.
The fifth crew of this year is aboard the SEA-EYE 4, which means that we are about to embark on our fifth rescue mission in 2022. A rescue mission that cannot be taken for granted, because – like all our work – it is financed by donations, and we never take donations for granted. Especially not right now, while many crises are happening at the same time.
This year, your donations have ensured that our Sea-Eye crews have rescued over 700 people from distress at sea and brought them to safety. Among them was a young man who, at the time of the rescue, was wearing a T-shirt with cell phone numbers written all over it. He had left home all alone, and his biggest fear was that no one would inform his family if he died on the run. That's why he wore the T-shirt with his loved ones' contact information, in case someone found his dead body.
To prevent relatives and friends from receiving death messages or having to live in uncertainty, we are out there at sea. We must not leave the people on the Mediterranean Sea behind. We must not forget them!
But unfortunately our planned rescue missions this year are not yet fully funded. The increased prices for fuel and food are causing problems for sea rescue organizations as well. Because even rescue ships do not receive any discounts here. That is why we are asking you not only for a moment of your time, but also for your help. Please donate for the rescue missions in 2022, so that we can carry out all planned missions and come to the aid of as many people as possible in acute danger of their lives.
If you want to secure our rescue missions permanently, please consider becoming a permanent donor and help us every month with a small amount. This makes our work predictable and more secure.
Best regards
Joana Weinmann
