As a student at Centennial, I have seen how our classmates are missing out on the benefits of recess. Lunch breaks simply do not provide enough time for relaxation and fun.

There is plenty of research to support the idea that students perform better academically when they have time to unwind. According to studies by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), recess serves as a necessary break from cognitive tasks. It allows children to engage in physical activity that can help improve their attention span and overall academic performance.

Centennial does not offer this crucial break period. This is why we need your support to make a change. The way we would implement this is by having a PACK schedule every day, but on days we wouldn't have PACK, fill the time with outdoor activity, either add the time onto lunch, and encourage students to go outside for the added time, or have it after first period or after second, depending on the lunch you have.
