June 19th Community Update: Key Meeting Highlights & Clarity on JPU Licensure Situation

We want to thank everyone for continuing to stay engaged, ask questions, and fight alongside us. Below are the official bullet-point takeaways from the latest leadership meeting at John Patrick University. Please read, share, and help us stop the spread of misinformation:

  Legal Action & Compliance
JPU has NOT lost accreditation or compliance. It remains in good standing with:

- ACCSC (national accreditor recognized by the U.S. Dept. of Education)
- NC-SARA
- Indiana Board of Education
- California Radiologic Health Board (a notoriously strict board)
JPU has retained legal counsel and issued a formal letter to the NY DOH on June 16th.

If the DOH fails to respond satisfactorily, JPU will pursue litigation immediately, including filing for an emergency injunction (TRO) (Hopefully within 30 days).

State law has NOT changed. The DOH admits this. NY regulations still allow licensure from programs accredited by JRCERT or other approved accreditors, like ACCSC.

  Clarifying Misinformation

Claim: JPU students were X-raying patients unsupervised
Fact: That allegation has been thoroughly investigated and proven false. Hospitals are now submitting attestations confirming full supervision.

Claim: Students cannot sit for the ARRT exam
Fact: JPU remains ARRT-approved. Students are still allowed to sit for the exam and qualify.

Claim: Mount Sinai and Northwell are pulling out due to concerns
Fact: That is inaccurate. Mount Sinai was not involved in the meeting being referenced. Northwell has not confirmed any formal removal. JPU leadership is actively seeking clarity from all clinical sites and hospitals.

JRCERT Path & Timing
JPU is actively pursuing JRCERT accreditation and is currently in the self-study phase.

The DOH claimed this process would take 18 months, but due to JPU’s rapid compliance, leadership believes it can be completed in as few as 6–12 months.
JRCERT will not be retroactively required for current students once JPU is approved, but this is one reason why litigation is being pursued—to protect current students under the law as it stands now.

  Refunds & Tuition Clarity
JPU is offering a 100% refund for the current semester (instead of the usual 50%) due to the unique circumstances.
Refund deadline: August 18th
Students will also be reimbursed for bootcamp-related travel, including:

Flight cancelation fees (if the airline doesn't refund you)
Bootcamp fees (if canceled)
Tuition rates will not increase for current students, even if they take a leave of absence and return later.

For Students Asking About Other Licensure Paths
-Students can still sit for the ARRT exam, which is national.
-Those seeking licensure in Connecticut or other states may do so if they meet that state's requirements.

-NY’s licensure pathway remains open for JPU students under current law, which is the basis of the ongoing legal case.

  Clinical Site Concerns
-JPU leadership has NOT received any formal notice of removal from clinical affiliates.
-If clinical sites are lost, JPU is committed to finding replacement placements.
No additional tuition or fees will be charged if clinical hours are delayed due to site issues beyond students’ control.

  Student Affirmation Letters
-Affirmation letters will be sent to students through Populi.
-There are three versions based on student progress (first semester, mid-program, near graduation).
-These letters are not mandatory and are for legal use as part of the school's case.

Why Town Hall Recordings Aren’t Being Released
-For legal accuracy, all formal updates are being distributed in writing (via Populi).
This is to prevent misinterpretation or misinformation from being spread.
All students are encouraged to email or call directly for further clarity.

  Next Steps
-Regular Thursday Town Halls will continue weekly.
-Additional legal updates will be shared as they develop.
-Petition growth is critical—it strengthens the public narrative and increases visibility.
-Please keep sharing the petition:
