Let us wear hats!

Let us wear hats!
The Issue
We, the students of William Annin middle school are not currently allowed to wear hats on school grounds and I for one find that pointless. Hats are simple but useful and practical, stylish even and for some unknown reason the more than 1000 students at William Annin are not allowed to wear them, pointless I say.
Why this rule is unnecessary
This role would make a lot more sense if it was applied in a school where the kids wear uniforms, and we don't at WAMS and therefore this role makes zero sense. The only explanation is cheating. You could wear a hat or hood and look down in a certain way and cheat off of the person next to you's paper. To solve this the students could just be required to take off hats and hoods during exams and overall testing. I for one have worn hats for a lot of my life and almost all of my schooling and I will not take that this saga will just end here, and for all other students.
Some stats.
So here are some statistics to boost my argument. Over 70% of schools and universities in the United States allow hats, so we can take from this that they must not be that much of a problem. Studies also show that students feel more independent and in control when they are allowed things like hats. The overall attitude of some students may change, and for others it will be a nice change. The studies show that hats are not a problem but a welcome part of school and should be allowed.
What's wrong with hats? (and conclusion)
I don't know what the deal is, maybe a respect thing? Well how does wearing a hat go to disrespecting the staff? I don't know and am baffled by the rule in general, so I don't think there is much left to say. Let's say that your school banned socks for example, you could still walk perfectly fine but may get a blister from time to time. That's what it is like, just why? The 1st amendment exists for a reason, freedom of speech, expression, religion and petition. We should have the right to wear hats, a right that is protected under the constitution. Sign this petition today to show our administrators that we the students deserve an equal amount of respect and rights as they have. Hats and hoods are good and I don't know why they are not allowed. So that's it, out.
