For nearly a decade, the World Dog Surfing Championships in Pacifica have brought joy, laughter, and wagging tails to our shores. It’s more than just a quirky event—it’s a beloved tradition that draws communities together, celebrates our furry companions, and puts Pacifica on the global map in the most heartwarming way.

But now, this one-of-a-kind event is at risk of being wiped out by rising costs.

Organizers are facing a 42% increase in expenses this year alone, including a city permit fee of over $7,000. Despite their passion and the event's positive impact on tourism and local businesses, the financial burden may force them to cancel the 2025 championships.

We can’t let that happen.

We’re calling on the City of Pacifica to work with event organizers to find a solution—whether it's reducing permit fees, offering logistical support, or helping source additional funding.
