Did you know that most Bluetooth speakers used in forest areas exceed 80–100 dB, well beyond the CPCB’s legal noise limit of 50 dB by day / 40 dB by night in silence zones? This level of sound is disrupting wildlife, driving birds and mammals away, and polluting the very silence that nourishes our souls.
Across India, serene forest spaces are increasingly being disturbed—not just by insensitive tourists, but also by homestays, cafés, and restaurants that actively promote loud music, alcohol consumption, and unruly behavior in eco-sensitive areas.
🌍 A Global Concern:
Many countries recognize the sacredness of silence in nature.
✓ In Japan, forest temples and sacred trails enforce quiet zones.
✓Yellowstone National Park in the USA fines visitors who disturb wildlife.
✓ Switzerland, Peru, and Thailand have also imposed noise restrictions in forest and mountain areas.
✓India—land of rishis, sacred groves, and meditation—must lead by example. Our forests are not entertainment zones. They are spiritual ecosystems deserving reverence.

💔 My Personal Experiences:
In forest regions like Dharamkot and Kanatal, I’ve personally witnessed how silence is repeatedly violated:
⛰️🌲In Dharamkot, I politely asked a café to lower their speaker volume. I was met not with empathy, but hostility.
⛰️🌲 At a homestay in Kanatal, I raised concern over loud music and alcohol use. The owners simply said, “What to do? Tourists demand it.”
⛰️🌲 In another instance, a group loudly used abusive language in a forest restaurant. When I asked them to speak mindfully, one man angrily said, “I’ve come here to have fun.”
These moments left me heartbroken. The language, tone, and energy used by many of us while intoxicated or emboldened by group dynamics often clash with the sacredness of nature.
It’s not about one group—it’s about a collective cultural drift toward disconnection and entitlement in spaces that ask for reverence.

When we speak loudly, swear, or blast music in a forest, it’s not just sound pollution—it’s spiritual pollution.

We urge the Indian government to implement the following actions in all forest areas and eco-sensitive zones:
1.Ban loudspeakers and amplified music in forest zones.
2.Prohibit public drinking and abusive language through forest or tourism laws.
3.Install clear signage on trails about noise limits and respectful behavior.
4.Deploy eco-volunteers or guards during peak hours for light monitoring.
5.Introduce fines or penalties for violators.
6.Run awareness campaigns through posters, tourism boards, social media, and local homestays.
