LET E3 RETURN IN ITS PHYSICAL AND DIGITAL FORMAT ITS NAME IS EL FARO DEL GAMING
The Issue
For the last few years he has been wondering about the need to continue to maintain E3
He commented that it began as a fair focused on showing the news to stores and journalists in the sector: the stores would see the games and consoles that they are going to put on their shelves and the journalists would write, but changes in the way they talk to retailers and that now the information and game demos can be sent over the internet without summoning the media, they have lost much of their raison d'être.
But it still makes a lot of sense. Investors who want to test new technologies or make contacts with the largest video game companies that have just made their most important announcements can go there and for this reason the concentration of so many business possibilities is convenient for them. It is a way of demonstrating the strength of companies, at least in American territory and that generates interest throughout the world.
But you are users and what matters to you is whether the companies deserve to get together to announce so many things. And the answers is a doubtful… yes? The internet has meant that E3 is no longer so necessary, that physical magazines no longer include a DVD with the trailers of the fair in special editions because they are already on the Youtube channels of the fair; and the three main console manufacturers have decided to announce more content directly to end players through the Nintendo Direct, Xbox showcase and State of Play.
BUT IT HAS BECOME SUCH A STRONG EVENT! it influences advertising campaigns and game development in general that it would be hard to think about the consequences of removing it. Many not-so-big developers would not have a space at conferences or promotional and distribution agreements with Sony, Nintendo or Microsoft to help them in development, and with this, players would not have such easy access to those games, which together with the networks social networks perhaps E3 is more relevant and profitable than ever when it comes to showcasing your game. Though this is entirely speculation and without giving much thought to it. For now we can only be a little grateful that it is an event with so many announcements and surprises that we might not have otherwise.
