I’m starting this petition as I have witnessed first hand at how bad ane can be when a loved one is needing urgent care. It has been like this for a few years now and no changes are happening. My late beloved grandad was a victim to this corridor zone 1 or whatever number business. One example is that when he was ane one of the many times they had told us it would be a few hours before he was transferred back to his care home so my mum had decided to take matters into her own hands and get him home ourselves. Not ideal as he couldn’t really walk but could sit to stand so me my mum and cousin in the middle of the busy ane corridor tried to get my grandad out of the bed and a nurse came to help then gave it up as a bad job and left us to it not one word of apology or going to get anyone else she just busied herself with the desk next to us. As soon as we managed to get him in the wheelchair 3 men came over trying to help when we didn’t need it anymore. There are lots of documentaries about this happening but nothing is changing we need more hospitals obviously not more houses being built in any place they can build them. I want to see change mainly because of the care my grandad did not get but other times he did get good care depending who was on shift and one time I had to ask three different people for him to be changed and turned. That’s another reason I’m starting this as dementia/Alzheimer’s patients (my grandad had alzhemiers for seven years) often get neglected and not checked on as often as they should and their position changes are not being done when they should be. I’m not saying all staff are like this but something needs to change about ane and the wait times. It was two years ago when this happened and it still pisses me off that my grandad had to go through this even though he didn’t know what was happening it shouldnt still happen.
