Sign this petition to support the establishment of a dog park in Brownsville.

This petition was started by Keith Holland, a lifelong resident of Brownsville in Brooklyn New York.  As a proud and caring,  Dad Dog to “Louie,” and a community building minded person, he has come to realize that the community of Brownsville is lacking and would truly benefit from a dog park.

The petition also hopes to identify some potential locations as well as the importance and impact that a dog park can have on a community.

In Brownsville, Brooklyn we've always loved our pets as family members;  they're our companions, our confidants, our loyal friends. Unfortunately, the lack of a dedicated dog park in our neighborhood means we're forced to travel far and wide just to find a safe and legal space for them to play and socialize. Other areas have the luxury of fenced dog parks, where our furry friends can roam free without the threat of fines. It's unfair that we're penalized for wanting the same opportunities right here in our own backyard.

We know the transformative power a dog park can have on a community. It's not just about giving our pets a place to exercise; it's also about fostering community spirit and enhancing the quality of life for local residents. A dog park would provide a gathering spot for animal lovers, a place to meet new friends and strengthen community bonds. Moreover, such a park could offer environmental benefits, turning an underutilized space into a vibrant hub of local activity.

Brownsville deserves better. Our community is rich in culture and potential, but it sometimes gets overlooked in resources and development. Establishing a dedicated dog park is a modest yet significant step toward reshaping our neighborhood's identity. Statistics show that crime rates often drop in areas with communal spaces like parks, where people engage more frequently and neighborhoods come alive with activity.
