Let's Microchip all Breeders, Pet stores and other who rehomed dogs -Make it Mandatory

The Issue

In our communities in Florida, we are bearing witness to a heartbreaking reality. Too many dogs are being abandoned, left to fend for themselves in the wild or on the streets, ultimately getting hit by cars or starving to death. As a in resident, this issue is personal to me. Yet, it is clear that the responsibility extends beyond us, reaching the very people who bring these dogs into the world—breeders. Being the AKC reasonable breeder, Backyard breeder or Pet store

We proposed the formulation and implementation of a mandatory responsibility policy that calls on breeders to ensure that the dogs they sell either at pet shops or through personal sales are micro-chipped. This policy must also provision that breeders are held accountable if the dogs they've bred are found in shelters or on the streets.

Additionally, if a dog is in need of rescue, breeders should financially contribute to the rescue organizations who have assumed responsibility for their dogs. This will foster a system of accountability and care for these innocent beings. A system of reporting breeders who sell dogs without chips should also be established, with the reporter receiving a "finder's fee". To protect the privacy of these whistle-blowers, their personal information should not be disclosed.

It is a well-documented fact that many of the stray dogs found in shelters throughout the United States have come from breeders (source: Humane Society of the United States). It's also well-known that microchipping has proven to be an effective method of reuniting lost pets with their owners (source: American Veterinary Medical Association).

With your support, we can advance this petition and work together to significantly decrease the current canine abandonment rate in Florida and perhaps set a precedent for the entire nation. Please show your support for this cause and sign this petition. Let's ensure our breeders are being responsible for the lives they bring into this world.

I, Christina Sanchez, have rescued way too many pure breed dogs from "the woods". That is not a name of a nice place. It's actually deep in the woods, where dogs are eating up by misquotes, ticks and no place to find food. Please help stop this. How many do you think have not been saved?
