Let's keep World Languages in our K-5 schools in brookline!

The Issue

Dear, whoever is reading this,

Hi, I'm a student in the public district of Brookline and for years we have been happy at our schools from our specials to our normal curriculum. But something is changing, the school committee is cutting our World Languages for K-5. Even though I'm in fifth grade and I'll have World Languages in middle school I'm still upset that this is happening. The reason I'm at the school is partly because of World Languages. Normally I wouldn't go to Driscoll but they were the only school that offered Chinese for K-5. My oldest sibling got in and then she wrote a PERSUASIVE ESSAY to get my middle sister in and she did the same for me. I'm glad to be at Driscoll. None of this would have happened if World Languages wasn't there and I'm happy that I am where I am. It's also not just for the students but for the teachers' too! 12.6 teachers (the point 6 being subs) are losing their jobs! I will bet that most of them have a family! They need to have a job or else they can't make money and it will cause a lot of stress for them! But we can prevent this. In just a few weeks they will solidify this rule and next year it will be cut! But there's still a chance. Signing this petition will hopefuly encourage the school committee to make a change. Let's keep World Learning for K-5! Or if you've seen this petition late, let's bring it back!
