Let's keep our education system

The Issue

My name is Yaki, and I am a student in Greenwich, Connecticut. I am writing to express my strong support for maintaining our current rotating class schedule. While I understand that there have been discussions about potentially changing this system, I believe that our existing schedule—with different classes each day—has proven to be both effective and beneficial for students and teachers alike.

The current rotating schedule allows students to manage their time more efficiently. For instance, if I have math or science on a particular day, I can focus on completing the homework that evening. On days when I have after-school work or other responsibilities, I know I won’t have the same class the next day, which gives me more flexibility to catch up and prepare. This structure reduces stress and helps students balance academic demands with personal obligations.

Additionally, the variety in our daily schedules keeps the school day more engaging. Having different subjects each day prevents monotony and helps students stay focused and motivated. It also allows for better retention of material, as we have time between classes to review and reflect. Teachers benefit as well, since a rotating schedule supports more dynamic lesson planning and prevents burnout.

Many students have already adapted to this system and find it supportive of both their academic performance and mental well-being. Changing to a fixed daily schedule would disrupt this balance, potentially increasing stress and reducing the effectiveness of instruction.

I respectfully urge the Board to preserve the rotating schedule that has served our school community so well. It promotes time management, academic success, and emotional health—values that are essential to a thriving educational environment.
