When Martin O’Neill arrived at Celtic in 2000, he changed the entire mentality of our football club. He rebuilt Celtic into a dominant force, restored pride to the support, and gave fans some of the greatest memories in our history.

He built one of the most loved Celtic teams ever — Larsson, Sutton, Hartson, Lennon, Petrov, Thompson, Mjällby and many more. He gave us belief again. European nights at Celtic Park became feared across the continent.

But what makes Martin O’Neill even more deserving of a statue is what he has achieved this season in the face of chaos and adversity.

After inheriting a difficult and turbulent situation, he steadied the club, brought leadership, passion and unity back to the team and the support, and once again reminded everyone what Celtic Football Club should stand for. In one of the most hectic and emotional seasons in years, he has shown dignity, class and resilience throughout.

Martin O’Neill is not just a successful manager — he is a Celtic legend.

A statue outside Celtic Park would honour not only the trophies and the unforgettable Seville journey, but the spirit, pride and identity he restored to this football club.
