William F. (Billy) Gingerella Sr. was a US Army Veteran and life long resident of Westerly, RI.  During his lifetime Billy was elected to several critically important roles in Westerly.  This includes, but is not limited to, being a member of the Westerly Town Council, where his fellow council members  elected him to the role of President, as well as being elected to the Westerly School Committee where his peers elected him to serve as their Chairman. 

Billy was involved in numerous civic affairs including being a life long member of the Westerly Elks Club, the Calabresse Society and an usher at the Immediate Conception Church.

Besides his love for his family and Westerly, Billy's also loved his 23 years of service as the High Sheriff of Washington County.  In this role, Billy helped / gave comfort to hundreds (if not thousands) of every day Rhode Islander's that found themselves in the unfamiliar place of a courtroom.  Billy always greeted them with a smile and an offer to help them during their time of stress and uncertainty. 

It is because of this dedication and his love for his job and his fellow Rhode Islanders that we are starting this petition to have a court room where Billy served, named in his honor.
