Let's Create a Safer Intersection Near Magnolia Dog Park
The Issue
Hello, my name is Sasha Hart, and I'm currently in the 5th grade at Magnolia Elementary School. For my 5th Grade Service Learning Project, I'm advocating for a cause that could make a significant difference in the safety of my community. My family and neighbors live in the area surrounding the intersection of 28th Avenue West and West Manor Place in Seattle, and it's a place we all frequent, both by car and on foot. This intersection has always been difficult to navigate due to limited visibility when driving up West Manor Place, making it a hazard both to drivers and pedestrians.
The issue is compounded by the high foot traffic around this intersection, as it is located adjacent to a community dog park. Many families, pedestrians, and dog owners pass through daily, and the current lack of a proper stoplight makes it perilous for everyone. The intersection is known for creating unnecessary confusion and potential accidents, which can easily be avoided.
A 3-way stoplight at this intersection would significantly improve visibility, allowing drivers to make informed decisions and providing pedestrians with a safer walkway. Installing such a traffic measure would not only enhance the safety of those who travel through this area but also contribute to a more organized flow of traffic, ensuring that all road users are better protected.
Seattle has always been known for its commitment to community welfare and safety. By installing a 3-way stoplight at the intersection of 28th Avenue West and West Manor Place, the City of Seattle can demonstrate its dedication to prioritizing public safety and improving traffic conditions.
Our community needs your support to bring this project to life. By signing this petition, you can help urge the City of Seattle to take action and make our neighborhood a safer place for pedestrians and drivers alike. Please sign and share this petition to help protect our community and make a positive change.
