Our towns have placed trash disposal bins everywhere around our town to help prevent littering. But why not go a step further? In our attempts to protect our ecosystems, we are fighting for the future of the whole planet. We can make our waste systems better by giving people the opportunity to sort their garbage into 3-chute trash cans. Waste management is not standardized across the town - and we're aiming to fix that. Few public areas contain both recycling and garbage bins, and despite that, none have food waste bins. By not putting in place the proper bins for people to dispose of their waste, we lose millions of dollars worth of potentially reused or repurposed items. Our food waste can be used for numerous products, anywhere from fertilizers to concentrated chemicals. Our plastics and paper waste can and should be reused, but we're not taking the necessary steps to make sure that our waste is being handled properly. Your signature on this petition is to help mandate all town-operated spaces and public spaces such as adopted trails or owned parks should to comply with similar rules that require the use of all 3 types of waste bins.
