The Issue

There’s already a crosswalk at Interlachen and Vandervork, but cars don’t slow down. Crossing there feels unsafe for kids and families. We’re asking the city to add a flashing pedestrian crosswalk. Sign the petition to show your support and help us push the city to make this change.

Hi Change.org users, City staff is working on these requests. Here is the latest news: Why hasn’t the advanced flashing warning light been installed on Eden Avenue to better protect pedestrians? (Sept. 2, 2025): https://www.edinamn.gov/2051/Responses-to-Community-Comment During the last week of August, the City accepted delivery of most of the new equipment that will be used to help increase safety of pedestrians trying to cross Eden Avenue. Unfortunately, the vendor did not deliver everything required to install the advanced flashing warning lights. Staff is trying to either expedite the order or personally pick up the unit from Milwaukee. The vendor has not responded to repeated requests. Staff has trimmed the branches that were obstructing the speed limit signs along Vernon Avenue. I have scheduled a meeting with the Grandview Square Homeowners Association at 7:00 p.m. on September 24 to discuss this further. Sincerely, Carolyn Jackson, Edina City Council Member

Good Morning. I would be a contact for this issue. The traffic safety committee reviewed the request at the May 2025 Committee Meeting. City Council accepted the Traffic Safety Report with this staff recommendation. D8. A resident requested increased crossing treatments over Interlachen Blvd at Vandervork Ave. Following review of vehicle volumes and the roadway layout, the current treatment meets City policy. The resident was notified of the petition process for City Council to consider.
