The Issue

I don’t have a child who was stopped, but I’ve seen the frustration in our community. Several local kids have recently been warned by police for riding electric scooters on residential streets in Rose Hill—something that, frankly, seems like harmless childhood fun. This has sparked a lot of concern among parents and neighbors, and I understand why. Our town should be a place where kids can ride around safely, explore, and be active. Instead, we’re enforcing outdated rules that don’t reflect the way kids play and move today. I started this petition because I believe in supporting the families in our town and helping create a safer, more reasonable approach. Many cities have already updated their laws to allow scooters with common-sense safety rules. Rose Hill can do the same. This is about more than scooters. It’s about giving our youth the freedom to enjoy their community and grow up in a town that values their well-being. Let’s come together and ask our city leaders to revise the ordinance and support our next generation.
