I have 2 very important updates: 1.)The Senate Education Committee could vote on Assembly member O'Donnell's AB 1771 as soon as Thursday, August 25th at noon -- please call all of the committee members and let them know that you want to see the District of Choice Program extended beyond the July 2017 sunset date and that DOC is very important to you and your student! AB 1771, as it currently reads, grandfathers students in their current SCHOOL only. It is not the extension of the PROGRAM that we must have. The bill must be amended to provide the extension or opposed in its current form. 2.) Please Reach out to Senator Huff's office and let him know you're in favor of his bill. Also, please reach out to the Appropriations Committee members and let them know you want them to let the bill move forward. The chair is Assembly Member Lorenza Gonzales and the vice chair is Assembly Member Frank Bigelow. Get your fellow parents to do the same.
