On November 1st. 2011 OUR U.S. Congress voted 398-9 to re-affirm our national motto, “In God We Trust.” Since 1864, the phrase, “In God We Trust” has appeared on U.S. currency and in 1956 it was recognized as our national motto.

This is in clear violation of our Consitution and the intentions of our forefathers who intended this to be a SECULAR nation. Had our forefathers intended ANY god to be what we "trust in", most assuredly they would have come up with this themselves. It was not until 88 years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence that the religious right used their influence to replace our motto of "E Pluribus Unum" (Out of many, One) to the completely un-American motto that we have now. 

I humbly request that you sign this petition to ask Congress to vote to return our motto to its original form.
