Let our children be seen, not streamed. Bring graduation back in person!

Let our children be seen, not streamed. Bring graduation back in person!
The Issue
My daughter is graduating kindergarten this year, and as a parent, I know how important it is for her to feel supported by her family during such a significant milestone. This is not just an academic completion; it’s a celebration of her first steps in education, a moment of pride and encouragement that will set the foundation for her future learning journey. I am sure many parents of Fricano kindergarteners share my sentiments.
Currently, the kindergarten graduation ceremony in our school district is set to be held virtually. While I understand the safety concerns and the convenience of an online format, the essence of a graduation ceremony is incredibly personal and impactful when shared in person. It should be a joyous event, where families can come together to applaud the achievements of their young learners, and where children can proudly celebrate with their classmates.
In-person ceremonies foster a sense of community. They allow children to experience the joy of walking across the stage, hearing cheers from their loved ones, and participating in a rite of passage that marks the end of a foundational year in their education. Virtual events, unfortunately, fall short of providing these emotional and social benefits.
I propose that we work together with school administrators to implement safety measures that can allow us to conduct this ceremony in person. This can include limiting the number of guests per family or holding the event outdoors.
Let's give our kindergarteners at Fricano Primary the memorable graduation ceremony they deserve. Help us show our support and commitment to their education and emotional well-being by signing this petition to hold an in-person graduation ceremony. Your support is crucial in making this heartfelt event a reality.
