Let My People Go!
The Issue
The community of 2Builders2Tools (2B2T) is coming together in unison for a call to action against Hausemaster, the current administrator, as well as the key financial stakeholders for the Minecraft server.
Our Problem
Throughout the previous years, the primary stakeholders have made decisions impactful only to their personal, financial gain. The changes did not assist with new user outreach, did not provide better quality-of-life to the regular player-base, and especially did not provide an engaging relationship between the management and players of the server.
Inclusion of Minecraft Bedrock Users
On the surface, this may appear to be a positive implementation. However, the root concerns involving the inclusion of the Minecraft Bedrock community stems from the desire to preserve the primary culture among Java-based players on the server. Additionally, the software and dependencies involving Bedrock support for Java-based servers have a lackluster security against various types of exploitation; including duplication glitches, server-wide crashes, server-wide lag, and various forms of exploits that allowed for illegal flying techniques. These exploits are confirmed among the player base to have stemmed from Geyser, the software used to include Bedrock players, not having effective connection with the server's anticheat software.
Server Environment Negligence
There has been various instances where Hausemaster has shown a reckless and carefree conduct as to what occurs on the server that he is financially and legally responsible for moderating. Among the player base, it has been noted and reported to Hausemaster that instances of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), pornography, extremism, cyberterrorism, and racial/sexual discrimination have been found in the form of:
- Map Art
- Sky-based logos and seals
- Build structures
- Minecraft Skins
- Minecraft Capes
- Chat messages
All with a lack of acknowledgement, despite reports to Mojang and to the designated support email that 2B2T requests users to report incidents to. Hausemaster has never made a public statement against player-based incidents involving these topics either.
Pay-to-Win Scheme
Users have also experienced various points where the new user is at a substantial disadvantage without providing a financial investment into the server.
Non-Priority Features
- Extended Queue Wait Time (>72 hrs)
- 8 Hours of Consistent Online Time
- One Account allowed in queue per IP
Priority Features
- Unlimited Online Time
- Unlimited Accounts allowed in queue per IP
- Shortened Queue Wait Time (<30 mins)
- Ability to talk publicly in chat
On average, it takes the average, non-experienced user approximately 1 hour to escape the initial spawn (5000 block radius), with additional hours being spent towards gathering resources, survival kits, and the ability to consistently gain the means to stay out of the world spawn. This has promoted and enabled users to force on a system that requires sourcing the ability to survive from a third-party shop. For reference, selling in-game items for real-life money is against the Microsoft End User License Agreement (EULA).
In addition to these findings, it's been discovered and alleged that Hausemaster may also be monopolizing on the ability to join the server by artificially extending the queue wait time, deterring users from joining the server for free. 2B2T claims that these financial gates allow for a welcoming environment, yet these demonstrations are contradictory to the mission Hausemaster is intending.
