LJ Smith published the first Vampire Diaries book in 1991. Ever since then thousands upon thousands of people have fell in love with this book series. Now, HarperCollins and Alloy Entertainment are trying to stop LJ from finishing the series the way she wants to - with an Elena/Damon endgame.

Although LJ Smith sold the rights to The Vampire Diaries back in the 1990's both the book series and the TV show have been something closely associated to LJ. It isn't just the characters that has the fans begging for more. It's plot and the very style that the author writes the books. Damon and Elena have had a very close relationship since the start - when Elena 'invites' her future husband into Bonnie's through a spell and Damon appears - to them becoming slave and master in the Dark Dimension (Shadow Souls). I do not believe it would be beneficial to the story if Damon and Elena were becoming closer and Stefan and Elena further apart only for it to be switched suddenly. In my opinion it would just seem completely unrealistic. And it's not just me who has these feelings. From polls and surveys taken I have figured that over 62% of Vampire Diaries readers would prefer a Elena/Damon endgame to a Stefan/Elena endgame.

If you are one of those 62% that truly believes Dmaon and Elena should be soulmates or if you think LJ Smith shouldn't have her book series taken away. It won't be the same with a ghost writer. I know that and you know it to. So please, I beg of you, sign this and help LJ get her series back! If you are a true fan of The Vampire Diaries not only will you sign this petition and many others but also do what hundreds of people are agreeing to do - refuse to buy the next books unless LJ Smith writes them her way.
