Following the altercation that occurred during our Lil Toppers 12U game in Lexington, MS on Saturday, MGYL voted to end the remainder of the season.

As Lil Toppers parents, we understand that the actions of adults may require consequences, and we support appropriate accountability for those directly involved. However, we do not believe our children should lose the opportunity to finish their season because of the actions or decisions of adults.

Our Lil Toppers athletes have worked hard, practiced, committed their time, and built friendships and memories throughout this season. Many of these children had absolutely no involvement in the incident.

We respectfully ask MGYL to reconsider the decision and allow the Lil Toppers age groups that had no involvement in the incident to complete their season. If consequences are necessary, we ask that accountability be directed toward the adults involved rather than affecting children who played no part in what occurred.

This petition is not about excusing anyone’s actions. It is about protecting the children from consequences for something they did not do and allowing them to finish the season they worked so hard for.
