The Issue

We, the underslept and overworked seniors of Benton High School, respectfully demand the right to nap. If kindergarteners get scheduled nap time, why not high schoolers—who are juggling AP classes, jobs, college apps, and existential dread?

Why This Matters:

  • Studies show that short naps (10–30 minutes) improve memory, focus, and emotional regulation.
Sleep deprivation among teens is linked to anxiety, poor academic performance, and health issues.
Seniors are expected to make major life decisions while running on caffeine and 5 hours of sleep.
A quiet nap zone during lunch or study hall could boost wellness, reduce burnout, and improve school morale.

What We’re Asking For:

  • A designated nap space (library corner, unused classroom, etc.)
  • Optional nap slots during non-instructional time
  • Beanbags, soft lighting, and a little dignity for the sleep-deprived

Let’s stop pretending that exhaustion is a badge of honor. It’s time to give seniors the rest they deserve.

Sign this petition if you believe in better mental health, smarter students, and a school that actually listens.
