Let DORITOS know cruelty to CATS doesn't sell chips!

The Issue

Despite extrememly negative feedback from thousands of animal lovers, Frito Lay, parent company of Doritos, continues to air a supposedly "funny" commercial (called "Doritos Dead Cat Bribe" or "Man's Best Friend") originally aired during Super Bowl 2012 in February. The ad involves a large dog burying a missing, now dead, cat and bribing the cat's owner not to tell with a bag of Doritos. Worse, the man lies to his wife when she asks him if he's seen their cat and continues to eat Doritos. Hilarious.

Back in February, many people protested this ad and received impersonal form letter "apologies" from Frito Lay - yet they are still airing this commercial as of April 2012 (I just saw it.), AND featuring it on their web page, Doritos.com.

Let's let Frito Lay know there is NOTHING funny about HURTING or MURDERING animals, whether they're cats or anything else. For more information on the commercial, check this article: http://www.pictures-of-cats.org/super-bowl-doritos-commercial.html

UPDATE: I received this form apology letter from Frito Lay today. If they are truly sorry, why do they keep playing the ad AND featuring it on their website?!?

"Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Consumer opinions are very important to us and we appreciate knowing how you feel.

The ad was consumer created through our 'Crash the Super Bowl' campaign. Consumers submitted ads that were then selected by a public vote. Please know your comments will be shared with the appropriate teams here at Frito-Lay. We apologize, as we would never intentionally offend our consumers.

Thank you again for sharing your thoughts and the constructive spirit in which they were offered. We hope our future actions will restore your confidence in our name and will earn back your trust and support.

Best regards,

Janet
