Let Brook Cheer JFK High

Let Brook Cheer JFK High
The Issue
Brooklyn is a high school student with a neuro-disability; a bright, determined girl who loves music, friends, family, and the joy of being part of a team. After years of watching her brothers participate in sports she couldn’t access, she finally found her place in cheerleading.
She worked hard, practiced daily, and earned her spot on the team. For the first time, she felt truly included. She found friendship, confidence, and belonging.
Then, without warning, the Athletic Director required the team to re-try out for basketball season- this time with cuts. Brooklyn was let go. The decision shattered her. The stress has taken a serious toll on her health and well-being.
Still, Brooklyn bravely stood before the school board and asked for help. Their answer? That keeping her on the team would be “favoritism.” She left in tears.
Brooklyn’s story is not just about one student; it represents countless children with disabilities who are left out, overlooked, or quietly pushed aside. Many don’t have the words or the support to speak up. But we do.
This petition isn’t just about letting Brook cheer. It’s about creating a world where inclusion is the standard, not the exception.
We desperately need your voice. Your signature is a powerful act of solidarity, not only for Brooklyn, but for every child who deserves to be seen, heard, and included.
When enough of us speak up, change becomes unavoidable. Help us send a clear message to school leaders, communities, and beyond:
Every child deserves a place to belong. Every child deserves a chance to shine.
Please sign and share. Let Brook Cheer.
