Austin is an intellectually disabled, completely non-verbal 11-year-old who needs significant supervision and support to remain safe at school.

Following repeated incidents that left us deeply concerned for his safety, dignity and care, Austin has been unable to attend his Victorian government specialist school since 20 May 2026.

We have raised a number of serious incidents and concerns with the school and Department. However, a recent regional Department response stated that the only recorded incidents were two damaged lunchboxes. This does not reflect the broader concerns and incidents we have repeatedly raised in writing with school leadership, including the Principal and Assistant Principal.

We have offered to fully fund a screened, appropriately trained, parent-selected 1:1 support person so Austin can return safely. We are not asking the school or Victorian Government to pay.

The school and Department have refused.
