The Issue

We respectfully ask the Washington County School District to grant an exception allowing Amalie, a high-achieving senior at Dixie High School, to walk with her classmates through the “D” and fully participate in the graduation ceremony on Wednesday, May 21st.

Amalie is an exceptional student with a 3.9 GPA, 32 college credits from Utah Tech University, and a perfect 4.0 GPA in both college and online coursework. She is also a first-place winner in a district competition, a seminary graduate, and a dedicated member of the school choir.

Due to her family’s work obligations between the U.S. and Europe—both of her parents are physicians developing a medical device—Amalie hasn’t spent enough time enrolled at Dixie High School.

Her only request is to be included in the official ceremony itself—sitting with her peers and walking through the “D” as part of it, not after.

Sadly, her request was denied, even though she could have met the credit requirement if she had been informed of online course options earlier—something she was never told about, despite her proven academic success.

This petition does not ask to change graduation standards, but rather to honor effort, resilience, and exceptional circumstances by allowing students in uniquely challenging situations to be celebrated with their peers.

Let her walk!

Let her be seen!

Let her know that hard work and dedication matter!!!
