Less Hassle, Smooth Flow: Traffic Action Plan for Pasig Catholic College

Less Hassle, Smooth Flow: Traffic Action Plan for Pasig Catholic College
The Issue
Every morning the intersection near Immaculate Conception experiences heavy traffic that moves 5 to 10 minutes, which causes a buildup of vehicles that stretches all the way to San Joaquin, Rotonda Kapasigan, and Palengke. Causes of heavy traffic include rainy weather, broken traffic lights, and nearby school drop-offs and pickups along the intersection.
We, the undersigned students, faculty, and staff of Pasig Catholic College, are deeply concerned about the increasing traffic congestion affecting our community. As the heavy traffic not only causes significant delays for students and employees, leading to tardiness and lost productivity, but also contributes to broader traffic issues in the surrounding areas.
The cause is important since it addresses the issue of heavy traffic that delays PCC students and employees from reaching the school on time and the cause seeks to find a solution to lessen the traffic flow near Immaculate Conception Cathedral.
This petition benefits students by reducing stress, parents and transport services with smoother drop-offs, public transport drivers through reduced delays, Pasig Catholic College staff via increased productivity, and the wider community by easing traffic congestion.
Students will not be so stressed and anxious, and they will be on time for class. Parents and transport services will have a more seamless drop-off and pick-up that will save time and reduce the number of frustrations. PCC staff and faculty are also going to benefit from this as they will have a more predictable and take less time to their commute. This means that they will become more productive at the end of the day.
Definitely, the wider community will benefit from this plan as well, beyond the immediate school community. With more efficient public transport, less traffic congestion in the neighborhoods around closing time, and walking will be safer due to the presence of designated drop-off zones and traffic enforcers.
In order to fix the congestion at the school location, a plan with multiple phases is in place. The first phase is about submitting a petition and then, after that, meeting the City officials and local barangay to get their support. Also, asking for traffic enforcers to immediately be assigned to the area at the same time. The school administration, meanwhile, must be engaged to accept the plan and initiate internal changes. The actions in the medium-term will mainly revolve around having the depicted traffic flow map, the creation of communication materials for parents, and the enactment of "stop and go" rules with time limits for the drop-off zones. As a solution for a long time, the plan recommended regular traffic flow monitoring, the adoption of technological changes such as traffic light synchronization, and safety guarantees for pedestrians through properly marked crosswalks.
If our petition receives full support from both the school and the local community, we will see significant improvements. There will be less traffic during rush hours and fewer delays for students and parents as a result of improved smooth traffic flow near Pasig Catholic College. With designated drop-off and pickup zones, as well as the presence of traffic enforcers, the streets will be safer for pedestrians, especially for young students. Parents and guardians will have less stress as school transportation will become more convenient. These initiatives will encourage better discipline among drivers and build stronger cooperation between the school and community.
