Remove the spectator limit to FHSAA Cross Country State Finals
No child should have to choose which parent can come watch them run at the state finals, yet that is what Leon County and the FHSAA is doing with their ticket allocation policy. Similarly schools are now being asked to choose between allowing parents to come or providing tickets for students, trainers, principals, and athletic directors.
“Due to venue restrictions, Apalachee Regional Park has limited the amount of spectator tickets available. Each school which qualifies for the State Championship Meet, will be given an allotment of 15 tickets to purchase. If a school has 4 or less individuals (per gender), the school will be given an allotment of 3 tickets they can purchase.”
The outdoor facility has ample room to safely allow for unlimited spectators, especially considering that there is only one division running per session and the number of teams participating has been cut in half from the previous year.
