The Rotherham Advertiser ran a story about funding cuts resulting in 6 schools loosing the vital services of the school crossing patrol. unfortunately Aston Lodge is one of the schools. Aston lodge is a primary school which has many children on roll from the age of 3 up to 11. The school is on a busy built up area with some shops which local people access regularly. It is also a main bus route which is a regular and busy route. On the same road (lodge lane) there is another busy school who are keeping there school crossing patrol person. I have witnessed children on days where the school crossing person was unavailable trying to cross the road between two parked cars. It worried me that much I raised my concerns with the school governors and head teacher at school. I personally feel if the patrol ends at Aston Lodge is would be tragic. I feel that a serious \ fatal accident would happen if it was to end. The sheer amount of traffic on the road at school drop offs and pick ups is colossal. Please review this. I have witnessed other schools in the area have 2 school patrol persons with a zebra crossing as well and Aston Lodge is going to go without. Lets prevent a serious incident and get our school patrol person back to stay. Thank you for you time to read.
