Lenient Marking in Maths Exams for ISC Class 12th Due to paper pattern change

Lenient Marking in Maths Exams for ISC Class 12th Due to paper pattern change
The Issue
The students of the Indian School Certificate (ISC) examinations for the academic year 2024-25 are in a state of distress following a sudden and unexpected change in the exam pattern. The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has deviated from the reference paper pattern initially provided to students without any prior warning. This abrupt change has led to widespread panic and a loss of confidence among students, negatively affecting their performance in the exams.
ISC Mathematics is a crucial subject that plays a significant role in shaping a student's future career. Many students dedicated countless hours to preparation, strictly following the prescribed pattern. However, the sudden deviation from the expected format has disrupted their well-planned study strategies, making it difficult for them to perform at their best.
Adding to the students' distress, schools were also not adequately informed about the change in format and question structure. This lack of communication further hindered students' preparation and contributed to their struggle during the exams. Moreover, many questions included in the examination were not part of the prescribed syllabus, leading to misinformation and misunderstandings about the actual scope of the syllabus. This unexpected inclusion of out-of-syllabus questions placed students at an unfair disadvantage, further exacerbating their anxiety and confusion.
This petition seeks lenient checking and the awarding of grace marks for the affected exams. Implementing these measures would help mitigate the anxiety and unfair disadvantage caused by the unforeseen pattern change and inclusion of out-of-syllabus questions. This request aligns with the principles of fairness and empathy in our education system.
We acknowledge that periodic changes may be necessary to maintain high educational standards. However, such changes must be communicated well in advance to ensure that students and schools can adapt accordingly.
With this petition, we urge the CISCE to act in the best interest of all ISC Mathematics students who have been affected and ensure justice by implementing lenient checking and the allocation of grace marks. Please sign this petition to show your support
