Oryza Employees Deserve Better

The Issue

The Oryza Group was recently awarded a federal contract worth almost $160,000,000 to provide clerical support for USCIS at two Service Centers located in Vermont and California.

The 700+ employees at the Service Centers are members of the United Electrical, Radio & Machine Workers of America (UE).  Many are long term, highly skilled employees who must obtain and hold a security clearance to do their jobs.  These employees provide critical support to USCIS.  Every few years the government awards the contract for these services to a different company, and employees must adjust to a new employer and bargain a new union contract.

Oryza – which has never had a government contract this big -- is off to a rocky start.  Showing little regard for its employees, the company recently offered its employees a pay raise of ¾ of one percent per year.  This amounts to 13 cents an hour for many Vermont employees.   Oryza employees are insulted and appalled by this offer.

Year after year, these employees do extraordinary work and the contractors make millions.  These employees deserve a decent annual wage increase.

Please help these UE members by letting Oryza know that 13 cents is not enough.  Sign the petition below.
