Pass the Nassau County Aquatic Center "Auxiliary Pool" contract "E146-13"

The Issue

Every day thousands of recreational and competitive swimmers, tri-athletes, divers, SCUBA divers, and fitness buffs utilize the Nassau County Aquatic Center.  To be sure, on many days there isn't enough space to service all the groups and people who want to use the pool between 3:30 and 9:00pm.

Long Island Swimming a 501-c3 not for profit is willing to build, operate, and maintain an auxiliary pool next to the Aquatic Center at no cost to the County.  This will almost double the available lane space and relieve the overcrowded conditions that often exist.  The new pool will allow for outdoor swimming during the summer time.  This second 50 meter pool will allow the Nassau County Aquatic Center to once again host the large national and international events that will make an economic impact on Nassau County.

By having a not for profit pay for the building, maintenance, and utilities of the auxiliary pool, the County will have all of the additional revenue without the burden of the maintentance, utilities, and debt service of the facility.  This will make a significant impact to the bottom line of the Aquatic Center.
