Legislative Politician Term Limits

The Issue

“Governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

Thomas Jefferson, Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776

We have a huge problem in the government of the United States today. Anyone who looks at the news on tv, their social media of choice, or newspapers can see the arguments stemming from our government. The ones in the most high positions are causing most of this uproar in our country. Most of them have made a career on Capitol Hill. Some have been on the scene for 50 years or more. Some of our best presidents of all time, who in many opinions deserved more time as Commander in Chief, could not continue because it would exceed their term limit. (With the exception of FDR).

What a lot of people don’t realize is that congress is just as important as our president. When these politicians are in power positions for too long it gets to their heads. It would most people. Their hearts start swaying away from the American people towards the power, and the money that’s going in their pockets. People like Nancy Pelosi, Mitch McConnel, Chuck Shumer, Mitt Romney, and even Joe Biden, are just a few names in the mix. Both Republicans and Democrats. This has to have some regulation.

A fresh mind and a heart that is still with the American People will almost always be with newly elected politicians. New elects have less time bumping elbows with other politicians, and more time with the people. Term limits for all government positions shouldn’t exceed a certain number of years. A number that should be voted on, and determined by the people. For example:

No more than 6 years between HoR/Senate combined. Presidential Elect does not interfere with legislative term limit.

The same should apply for state governments as well by federal law.

I am starting this petition to restore the power of “We the People”. I am calling on my fellow men and women to stand alongside me and restore our government to its original state with a modern touch.

Thank you for your support.
