Legalize the Sale of Beer and Wine in ETJ District, Wylie, TX

The Issue

As a resident and small business owner focused on providing services and convenience to the local community of Wylie, TX, I have personally experienced the inconvenience of driving long distances for simple delicious dinner with some  beer and wine to accompany. The current law restricts the sale of alcohol products in our ETJ District, especially in some key areas like an intersection between Wylie and St. Paul. Now it shows on the ETJ district when across the street is CVS can sell liquid and Jonny Mexican reatarant who also can sell. We are opening a really nice restaurant in this new shopping center to better service our community but we are now categories as dry area . In fact which diverts potential local businesses and interrupts the qualitative living values in our neighborhood.

In the United States, the sale of alcoholic beverages like beer and wine is a significant contributor to local economies. In 2019, a total of 36.2 billion gallons of alcoholic beverages were sold in the U.S., indicating a high demand (source: US Census Bureau, 2019). There is no reasonable argument as to why the residents of St. Paul , TX should be excluded from this aspect of their day-to-day living.

Therefore, I urge the  Collin county  to consider our request to legalize the sale of beer and wine in our local ETJ District. Doing so will not only provide residents with the convenience we need but will also boost local businesses and enrich our community life. I urge you to join me in signing this petition to introduce these much-needed changes to our local legislature.
