On Mothers Day 2024, our beloved cat was tragically hit by a vehicle whose driver did not stop or slow down. This heartbreaking incident is not unique to us, but a reality faced by countless pet owners and animal lovers every day. The current laws do not mandate drivers to stop for animals that run into the road, which often leads to unnecessary loss of animal lives.

We propose that it should be made legal for drivers to stop for any animal who runs into the road - including cats. Such legislation would not only protect our beloved pets but also contribute towards reducing roadkill numbers significantly.
