The Issue

The state of Florida currently does not allow for Natural Organic Reduction, also known as human composting. This eco-friendly alternative to traditional burial or cremation methods is gaining popularity across the United States and has been legalized in states like Washington and Colorado. Human composting is a natural process that transforms human remains into nutrient-rich soil, reducing our carbon footprint and offering a sustainable end-of-life option. According to Recompose, the company pioneering this method, one metric ton of CO2 is saved for every person who chooses Natural Organic Reduction over conventional methods. This soil can be used on trees and plants, donated to conservation efforts, or in any other way compost may be used. It's time for Florida to join the growing number of states embracing this environmentally responsible choice. We urge lawmakers to amend current legislation and allow Floridians the option of Natural Organic Reduction. Please sign this petition if you support this change in law.
