I have dreamt of owning a hedgehog since I was 8 years old. The mystery of their absence from local pet stores puzzled me, until I discovered that they are illegal pets in California. This is a call to change this law and allow the residents of our state to own these harmless creatures as pets.

Hedgehogs are small, non-aggressive animals that pose no threat to humans or the environment. They require minimal care and can provide companionship just like any other pet. In fact, they are legal pets in most states across the U.S., with California being one of the few exceptions.

The current law banning hedgehogs as pets in California is based on outdated concerns about potential threat that these animals could cause. Furthermore, there has been no recorded instance of a hedgehog causing harm or disease outbreak in areas where they are illegal.
