I am one among many in the city affected by the rising costs of eggs. The possibility of raising our own chickens would serve as a practical solution to offset these costs. Backyard chickens not only provide a source of fresh, healthy eggs but also contribute to a sustainable way of living. According to a study by the University of Georgia (2012), a typical backyard chicken can lay over 200 eggs a year. Moreover, backyard chickens contribute to eco-friendly practices by converting kitchen food waste into fertilizer. Currently, our city laws prohibit raising backyard chickens, an approach that needs reconsideration given the potential benefits involved. Therefore, we urge the local authorities to revise the current rules and allow backyard chickens within the city limits. Please sign our petition in favor of this.
